I just purchased this mattress and am so far pleased with it.One of the features is the rods along the sides of the mattress which is a recommended characteristic of a good crib mattress from what I read.This makes the sides very firm.The mattress is firm when I press on the center of it and it really seems to have a good amount of padding over the coils (so you don't just feel coils when you press on it).It fits perfectly in our crib without any gaps.I would recommend going to look at crib mattresses in person so you can get an idea of what range of firmness and quality is available.Then you can come back and do price comparisions.I had previously assumed a crib mattress is a crib mattress, but not so.Just like with anything else, there is a fairly wide range in quality.I would also recommend reading a couple of articles on what to look for in a crib mattress so you will know what to expect - there are plenty on the internet.
