This is a great mattress.Firm, yet comfortable.It is rather heavy (compared to a foam mattress).It is not waterproof in any way, but that has not caused us any problems so far (we have used it for almost 2 years now).We use a washable waterproof cover over the mattress.Would definitely buy it again, if needed.It appears to be made entirely of natural coir fiber, covered with a cotton batting (I don't think there are any chemical fire retardants added, which some say may contribute to SIDS).Click Here to see more reviews about: Colgate Natural I Crib Mattress, Ecru
