I have an expensive thick water-proof mattress. I regret purchasing it since most pads come water-proof. I think it makes babies sweat if there is no padding between the mattress and the baby. So I was looking for a pad that was not water-proof to allow my baby's body to breathe. I found just very few pads that were non water-proof and most of them would have not fit the thick mattress. This one fit nicely. My baby does not sweat any more and sleeps more comfortably. I washed it, and the pad looked as if it were brand new. Did not shrink, did not change the appearance.
