I actually first bought the 3 inch in this topper and we were happy with it as I wrote in a review for the 3 inch, but we needed some way to slightly elevate the head of the bed and to buy the foam at a fabric store for just what we needed just wasn't worth the cost.So we came up with the idea of buying this and cutting off what we woulduse under our foam mattress to elevate it, and save the rest to use for seat cushions on my chairs as they need to be replaced. It worked better than we expected to elevate the bed, we thought we would have to double it, cut off about 24 inches, but found the single 2 inches were enough to elevate the bed for us. We slipped it under the foam mattress at the head of the bed.If we elevate the bed anymore our 26 pound Dachshund will not be able to jump up for her afternoon nap. I have 3 bench seats my husband made and 6 chairs that all use foam for the seats, so the remainder will take care of most of those in the future.We just used scissors to cut it, I have seen the fabric stores use a scroll saw which my husband has, but he just wanted to try the scissors and they worked.Click Here to see more reviews about: Sleep Better 2 Inch Extra Firm Mattress Topper
